Ballet Folklorico Sol de Mexico

Ballet Folklorico Sol de Mexico is a non-profit organization from the city of Houston TX, founded in 2010. BFSDM is under the direction of Nohemi Piñones and instructed by Carolina Perez. In this organization we focus on creating a community of dancers that learns to respect and appreciate the culture and traditions of the Mexican Folkore. Ballet Folklorico Sol de Mexico is a family based group where parents and students participate in many events throughout the year in order to meet the group’s necessities. The group includes dancers from ages 5 to 25 which make up three different dance companies; the child, intermediate, and advanced level. The group has participated in different events throughout the city of Houston from TV interviews/showcase, festivals and the inauguration of our city’s METRORail. We recently had the honor to perform in this year’s HOUSTON LIVESTOCKSHOW AND RODEO “Go Tejano Day “during the fiesta charra’s festivities. The Ballet Folklorico Sol de Mexico also participated in the Competencia Folklorica Bailes de Mi Tierra 2014 and 2015 wining a total 16 awards including first, second and third places. Another great accomplishment in 2015 was wining 9 trophies including first, second and third in in our first participation in Competencia Folklorica de Tejas 2015.  We welcome anyone that is interested, to contact us for more information about Ballet Folklorico Sol de Mexico.
